Building CAST's Practice

I have had the opportunity to become directly involved with improving our internal infrastructure, from the development of our Associate Consultant Program to coordinating our annual Spring Retreat.  It is a great feeling to be able to see how ones efforts impact both our clients and internal environment.

I look forward to the opportunity to participate in the new associate training program. Our new associates have so much energy and are eager to learn. Their questions and perspective really get you thinking about your business. I wish that I had this kind of environment when I was starting out.

I had the opportunity to act as one of the coordinators of the first Associate Consultant Boot Camp.  As such, I helped to identify areas where we wanted to provide training and solicited the CAST team to help us to create modules in each of their areas of expertise.  We built training sessions on the basics of consulting, basics of business, overviews of our clients' industries, CAST's methodologies and the various technical tools and resources we employ to deliver high quality work.  Many of the modules were delivered by the individuals responsible for their content.  In addition to presenting some of the overarching concepts, I attended all of the training sessions to ensure that the Associates’ questions were answered and that they were taking away the appropriate information for their position.

With CAST, you really feel as though you are part of the bigger picture.  Everyone at CAST wears multiple hats. It is not a one dimensional job.  Your first and foremost priority is to our clients.  But in addition, each staff member has roles outside their normal job description that are internally focused whether it is developing professional growth training programs, expanding our Knowledge Management System, refining internal processes, building new analytical tools, or marketing the firm better.  Personally, CAST has put my interests in web design and development to use.  I have been significantly involved in developing our intranet, conducting refreshes to our website, and building an online survey tool.  I take a lot of pride in these contributions.
